How much would one spend on gas travelling from Austin to NYC?
I mean, i know it totally depends on the efficiency of the car, gas prices (don't we just love them?) and all that. But just as a rough, average estimate. Commuting - 5 Answers

Mapquest gives 1750 miles, and I'd assume there wouldn't be much traffic till the northeast, so let's adjust that to 2000 miles after delays. Average MPG... SUV ~14? and car ~26? So let's say 20 mpg, makes it 100 gallons and like $3.25 a gallon. So $300-350 at the best.

Youll travel 1744 miles. If you stop for fuel every 350 miles you will have about 5 stops. Give or take for you own MPG.
